What it involves
Whitening acts on stains within enamel and dentine using a whitening agent.
The result depends on the starting colour, the type of staining and individual response. Not all stains respond equally: those caused by medication or developmental changes respond less than dietary staining.

- Teeth stained by food, drink or tobacco.
- Requires no active decay and healthy gums: these are treated first.
- It does not act on fillings, crowns or veneers, which keep their original colour.
